A misty start to the morning.

It was steeper and more slippery than it looked.

A vast area was covered with these, not one was turning.

Marty wanted to give it a go, maybe on a day ride close to home, maybe I am just too old, probably both.

Lovely forest view. A bit out of sequence, but a nice shot.

I am off to the sidecar rally with Crusty Varmit for a few days, look forward to see what else turns up when I get back. Cheers.

Doing some online research when cobbling this ride together in a fair hurry after cancelling the Tassie-trip, and the Combienbar Valley having perked my interest for many years, even more so when I'd tripped over this little gem:

The Valley Of Contentment....sounds like an invite, dunnit?

....and that's exactly what it is!! :2thumbs-up:
GOLD!

And the pics will show that everyone felt the same about those glorious 40km of well-hidden dead-end of single-lane bliss...without another soul in sight!!
What a find!!

The incredible luck-of-weather held for another day (thinking that Club Terrace got 320mm of rain only a few days later! ), otherwise the top end of Hensleigh Rd. might have been a real handful... even so the big Yam decided to take another nap but hanging onto its remaining mirror. :black-eye:

Coast Range Road turned out a scenic cruise along the ridges, offering some sweet vistas for some of it.
I could do this all day....

Popping out of the plantations and forestry onto the top of the escarpment, the Cragie Bog Rd. wasn't really a bog, but a solid series of potholes and craters, hard to find a rhythm or check the surrounds while riding.

Glad for the asphalt to appear, hallelujah!!

The planned Bombala-Bypass didn't work out due to some bridge works at Cambalong, but memory served well to find the backroads of Bombala for the exit via the Gunningrah Rd. for another lousy lunch spot :)

Ugly as sin!!
Needed, no doubt...but killing the Alpine High Plains.

The little concrete bridge across the Snowy River headwaters at Ironmungy has seen better days...

....and only a couple of days ago, down on the coast, The Snowy looked like this (pinched from Google)

Certainly enough water in Lake Jindy
(assuming that to be in compensation for the near-empty Tooma and Tumut Pond Dams during the current Hydro Scheme Extension works.)

Hytram

<-- now went that way
It was a rather classic morning, bits of mist and sun creeping through with a marvelous bit of completely empty ribbon of tarmac to enjoy
